Weekly Update 6.1.23

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Happy New Year!

Maple Tree Class hit the ground running this week. Our exciting new Rainforest geography topic was introduced. Please can children bring in an empty, clear plastic bottle (1.5 - 2 litre) for a small project linked to this for next week.

The children have revisited their note taking skills in preparation for writing a non-chronological report on rainforests. They have been learning a wide range of vocabulary to support this writing activity. My maths group have been completing the fractions topic and Miss Bairstow's group have been working on converting improper fractions to mixed numbers.

Peat Rigg parental consent forms for the residential trip have been sent home this week. Please can these be returned by the 13th January so the required school documentation can be completed.

Have a great weekend.

Mrs Trotter

Weekly Update 16.12.22

Hi,

A fun-filled, final week to the autumn term. UKS2 sang brilliantly and shared aspects of their work from our World War Two topic. It was lovely to have an audience filled with family members and the audience participation for the alternative Twelve Days of Christmas was fabulous! A big thank you to Mrs Amos for encouraging the children to be so confident in their singing. I know the children's particular favourite song was 'Sheep, Sheep, Sheep'.

The children enjoyed watching a film and playing board games for their Christmas party. UKS2 also came together to watch 'Goodnight Mr Tom', our whole class reading text.

Mrs Amos, Miss Bairstow and myself have been busy planning for our Rainforests and Ancient Maya topic next term. Please can children save an empty, clear plastic bottle (1.5 - 2litre) ready for a geography project in January. All will be explained in the new year....

Please can children also check at home for any school books (library and reading) and return them after the holidays.

We would like to thank you for the lovely gifts we have received.

Have a super holiday and we will see you on the Tuesday 3rd January.

Merry Christmas!!

Mrs Trotter, Mr Spence and Mrs Senior

Weekly Update 9.12.22

Hello,

UKS2 have been busy practising for their WW2 Christmas Assembly next week. We are looking forward to welcoming parents to share what the children have been learning this term with the addition of some fabulous singing!

It was lovely to watch the younger children in school perform their Christmas nativities. Younger siblings were so happy to see their older brothers and sisters in the audience. This is the first time this has been possible since 2019.

On Wednesday next week, we have the UKS2 Christmas parties. Thank you to those parents who have paid a voluntary contribution towards the party food. Please can all monies be sent into school by Monday. On this day, children can wear party clothes. Please be mindful that children will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear that is suitable for outside break and lunchtimes. In addition, it would be lovely if children could bring in a hat and scarf for the WW2 Christmas Assembly.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Trotter
