Hi,
The children have been working on their descriptive writing skills this week using a short film clip called 'The Piano' as inspiration. They have been discussing different word classes and creating some super sentences. Next week, the children will be using this vocabulary and different sentence structures to write a character description.
We have been discussing the qualities of friendship in PSHE. The children had great fun miming some of the qualities for the other children to guess. Maple Tree Class decided as a class that the most important qualities were loyalty, honesty and respect.
Enjoy the long weekend

Hi,
Maple Tree Class completed their non-chronological reports this week. The children enjoyed being creative in how their writing was presented and have learned lots of useful historical information.
Whilst reminding the children what Remembrance Day is this week, the class focus on World War Two moved to local connections. We learned the names of all the local soldiers who had lost their lives during World War Two; some of those names were added to individual poppies and two class wreaths were made. Similar activities also took place in Oak and Ash Tree Class with individual names added to crosses and pebbles so the local men could be remembered.
Another delicious wartime recipe has been created! Please keep sending the photos to the class email address maple@ruffordparkprimary.org.uk
Reminder letters have been sent home with children this week regarding the residential trip in April 2023. Please contact school if you have any queries or concerns about the trip. The residential experience is an important part of Year 6 and the children always have an amazing time.
A number of Year 6 children have been arriving on school premises extremely early in the morning. School starts at 8:50am and children should only be arriving on site shortly before this time.
Enjoy your weekend

Hello,
Another busy half-term commenced this week.
I was pleased to receive some more photos of the delicious wartime recipes that some of you made over the half-term holidays. This challenge continues until the end of this half-term. Keep baking!
In class, the children have been busy researching about the role of women during World War Two in order to write their own information text. There have been many interesting facts learned which I'm sure the children would be happy to share with you. In maths, the focus in my group has been on fractions. Despite an uncertain start to the week, the children began to recall their previous learning and were feeling more confident by the end of the week.
Preparations began for an UKS2 festive gathering. Watch this space...
Enjoy Bonfire Night!
