Weekly Update 27.5.22

Hi,

The children have been learning about ancient Greek myths this week. We focused on the myth of Perseus and Medusa, reading several versions of the story and enjoying an interactive performance from the Tempus Fugit theatre company. This inspired some super retelling of the story by revisiting the writing skills the children have learned throughout Year 6. It has been lovely to see the children including dialogue, 'show not tell' descriptions and accurate use of punctuation to write their fabulous myths.

Everyone enjoyed the Platinum Jubilee celebrations today. I hope you all continue to enjoy these over the half-term break.

Hi everyone,

Maple Tree Class have been focusing on their writing skills this week and using their recent residential experience to write some fabulous, persuasive leaflets. Everyone enjoyed talking about the great time we had on our residential and using this shared experience to inspire some super writing. I have been so impressed with the excellent vocabulary choices the children have made to encourage others to visit this fabulous destination (I will share some of the completed leaflets next week). The front covers that the children designed are also fabulous!

Have a great weekend!

Weekly Update 13.5.22

Hi,

Year 6 completed their Statutory Assessment Tests this week. I was impressed by everyone's positive attitude and real focus; the toast and jam to start the day also helped! It was lovely to see relaxed, smiling faces throughout the whole process and with the help of a few sweet treats in the afternoon the children were fully prepared and ready for each day. The week was completed by a Year 6 rounder's match. We hope to continue with these each week; some warmer weather would be a bonus.

Everyone deserves  a restful weekend. There are several sporting events for some of Year 6 next week so we continue to be busy.
