We have had a very festive week in Pear Tree Class! The highlight of the week has definitely been the Christmas performance. I am so proud of how all the children sang, danced and acted and they all really enjoyed themselves. I hope that you enjoyed watching the performance too.
In other news, a lot more children have been reading at home this week and we are happy to say that Aslan is back in our reading area, having won the KS1 Reading Challenge this week.
Have a lovely weekend and try to stay warm!

We have had a festive end to the week in Pear Tree Class. We have been rehearsing our play 'Prickly Hay' and the children are excited about performing to you next week.
An elf has been sent to our classroom from Father Christmas, to make sure that all the children are following our school Golden Rules in the run up to Christmas. We will wait to see what the elf gets up to over the next few weeks...
In PSHE we have been learning about who our special people are and why they are special to us. The children created their own card to say thank you to their special person for looking after them (hopefully you should have received one at home!)
In English we have been learning about postcards and the children have written a postcard from Florence Nightingale's point of view to her sister, recounting what she has done at Scutari Hospital.
We've had a drop in the number of children reading at home over the last few weeks. Please make sure you are reading with your child at least three times a week, ideally every day. The children really want Aslan back in the reading area so please support them with this at home.
Enjoy the weekend and I will see you again on Monday.

We have reached the end of another busy week.
Our Christmas performance rehearsals are well under way and we are looking forward to performing for you on either Wednesday 7th December or Thursday 8th December.
In phonics we have continued learning the new level 5 sounds. On Wednesday the children went on a scavenger hunt around the classroom by following instructions that contained the new 'ou' digraph.
In PE the children have enjoyed the street dance classes run by a dance specialist. This week they danced with a partner and followed a routine featuring mirroring.
In maths we have finished learning about subtraction and have started to learn how to count to 20.
Thank you so much for the jar and bottle donations for the school fair. Enjoy the school fayre tomorrow and I will see you again on Monday.
