Hi,
The first thing I would like to share with you this week is the gallery of pictures from our amazing trip to Peat Rigg. The link below will take you directly to the gallery on the school website.

This week in English we have been writing formal thank you letters. The Y6 children who went to Peat Rigg have been writing to the staff there and the Y5 children and any Y6 children who did not go to Peat Rigg have been writing to Mr Smith who taught them whilst we were away.
In maths, Miss Bairstow's group have been recapping area and perimeter. Mrs Trotter's group have been learning about angles.
I would also like to remind you how important it is that Year 6 children return any homework they are set each week. It is a good way for them to consolidate their learning and also teaches them how manage their time and work independently before they go to high school. Please ask your child about their homework to ensure they remember to complete it and hand it in on time.
Have a good weekend and enjoy the extra day for the bank holiday!

Hello!
For Y6, this week has been all about the Residential. We have had a brilliant time in North Yorkshire at Peat Rigg. I am sure that your child will tell you all about it and we will upload a slide show of all the best photos next week.
Miss Bairstow :)
Back at school, in Y5/6 the children have been working with Mr Smith on a bit of a project building up to Earth Day on Saturday - the theme for which is 'Invest in Our Planet' and what that might mean on a world, national or personal level.

Hi,
I can't believe we are 2/3 of the way through the year!
We finished the term with a Scholastic Book Fair in school which was a great success. We ran another Year 6 Book Fair Takeover with a great team of accountants, customer service advisors, browsing supervisors, and events, display and advertising specialists! The takeover team did a fantastic job of organising the running of the fair and promoting it in school. I would like to say a massive thank you to all of the team for giving up so much of their time to help run our fair. We couldn't have done it without them! Here are most (not all!) of the takeover team below!
We also had some very exciting lessons taking place on Friday as all of the children in Ash and Maple class finished their DT "automata animal" projects they have been planning this term. We have learnt lots about CAM mechanisms and designed our endangered rainforest themed animals and on Friday we built our frameworks and put it all together!
Finally, many of us enjoyed taking part in the Easter egg scramble today which was organised by the PTA so we would like to say a big thank you to them for this!
Have a great Easter holidays and see you in two weeks!
Miss Bairstow
P.S. I have set the children in Ash a little extra homework challenge starting now until the end of the year - we have been writing postcards as an Ancient Maya archaeologist this week so in the spirit of writing letters instead of the digital communication we rely on so much I have challenged the children to send a postcard to the school addressed to Ash Tree Class if they visit anywhere exciting in the near future! :)
