Weekly Update 16.9.22

Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Ash Tree Class Blog

Hi,

We have had another good week in Ash Tree. We had a great science lesson on Thursday morning where we investigated how light reflects. Pictures to follow...

On Friday afternoon, we celebrated the life of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II by drawing portraits of our late monarch throughout her life. Pictures to follow...

We are looking forward to our trips to Eden Camp next week. Please see below for some further information and reminders. A paper copy of these reminders has also been sent home today.

Y5/6 Eden Camp Trips - IMPORTANT

We would like to issue a few reminders in advance of our Y5 trip (Oak and Y5 Ash) on Tuesday and Y6 trip (Maple and Y6 Ash) on Wednesday to Eden Camp.

Children will need to meet on the KS2 playground at 8.15am. We will be departing from school no later than 8.30am to allow the necessary travel time. Children will need to wear their normal school uniform and must bring a waterproof jacket/coat.

Children will need to bring a packed lunch with them. We ask that packed lunches are fully disposable (no lunchboxes/Tupperware etc.) and in a carrier bag with your child’s name on. Please also include a disposable, plastic water bottle. Please note that packed lunches MUST NOT include nuts of any kind (including peanut butter and Nutella) as we have children in the group who have a potentially life-threatening allergy to this food.

Please do not send your child with a backpack – due to the nature of the visit it would be impractical for them to wear this all day.

We aim to return to school by 4pm. If there are delays, school will inform parents via text message. Please wait to collect your child on the KS2 playground – not by the top gates where the coach will stop. This is to ensure all children can disembark safely and return their school resources to the classrooms.

As we are returning later than the end of a normal school day, you will need to notify the office or your child’s class teacher if you wish for them to walk home alone, even if this is their normal arrangement.

We thank you for your support with this.

Yours faithfully,

UKS2 Team

Have a good weekend and see you Tuesday at 8.15 (Year 5!)

Weekly Update 9.9.22

Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Ash Tree Class Blog

Hello and welcome back!

It has been lovely spending time getting to know the new members of Ash Tree class this week. They have all worked incredibly hard and I am sure we are going to have a great year.

Just a few reminders...

  • Our Year 5 and 6 trips to Eden Camp are coming up on the 20th and 21st of September - please return permission slips ASAP if you haven't already
  • Ash P.E days are on Monday and Tuesday (a letter has been set home with reminders about P.E kit)
  • Children in UKS2 who wear a smart watch/bring a phone to school will need to return a permission form for this

Have a great weekend and get some rest - we have a busy few weeks ahead!

Weekly Update 22.7.22

Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Ash Tree Class Blog

Hello!

I can't believe we have reached the end of our first "normal" school year in over 2 years! Ash Tree have been absolutely fantastic this and a dream to teach. They have got involved with so many extra-curricular activities and clubs and I hope they continue this in either Year 6 or Year 7.

We have so many happy memories from this year and wish the children the best of luck for their new starts in September whether they will be staying with us for another year or moving on.

We have enjoyed celebrating the end of our Year 6's primary school journey over the last couple of weeks which was topped off by their fantastic leavers' performance yesterday. Please follow the link below to see a gallery of pictures of all of their highlights over the last few weeks.

We would like to say a massive thank you to the children for all their hard work over the last year and to all the parents and carers for all their support. We are so grateful for all the wonderful and thoughtful gifts and cards we have received. Thank you!

So finally...

Have a fabulous summer and see some of you in September!

Miss Bairstow :)
