Hello everyone,
We have made it to the end of our first full term in Year 3 and it has been fantastic to witness the children's developments throughout the past few months. I have seen huge progress in their independence, their confidence and their level of responsibility and I would like to extend my appreciation to you at home for all the work you have done to encourage this.
We have had huge amounts of fun this week with our Christmas party on Wednesday, lots of celebrations in assembly and the Christmas Jumper day today!
There will be no homework sent home over the Christmas holidays but I do ask that you encourage children to keep reading and practising their times tables ready for the reading awards (10 times over the holidays) and the TT awards tests in the first week back.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Miss Simms

Hello everyone,
It has certainly been a Wintery week this week and we have had to make sure to wrap up warm when we have been outside!
In Willow Tree, we have been extremely busy preparing for out Carol Service on Monday and we can't wait to see you there!
We have been practising our times tables and challenging ourselves to solve maths problems using our multiplication, addition and subtraction skills.
In English, we have been writing our letters to Caroline Lawrence to say thank you for writing 'The Thieves of Ostia' and to tell her our favourite parts and favourite characters.
In topic, we have created our very own Roman shields and we will be using these to practise our Roman battle formations that we learnt at Murton Park in September.
As we rapidly approach the Christmas holidays, it is now more crucial than ever that children are reading consistently at home so that they are ready and raring to go in January. We would like to remind you that your child should be reading at least 5 times each week at home and that their reading record should be signed so we can keep track of this. They are not limited to what they should be reading and we encourage the children to choose books they enjoy to read for pleasure alongside their school reading book.
It has been pleasing to see that more and more children are completing their homework and returning it by the Wednesday. New homework will be sent home today and children will need to return this next Wednesday.
Next week, we have our Christmas party on Wednesday and children may come in to school wearing non-uniform/ party clothes. On Friday, we will be celebrating Christmas jumper day and children are invited to wear a Christmas top/jumper for the day.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Simms

Hello everyone,
The children have performed admirably this week while we have conducted our termly assessments. They should be very proud of themselves and I am excited to see their continued progression throughout the rest of the academic year.
With just 2 weeks to go before the end of the term, the children have been busy practising the songs for the Carol Service on Monday 12th December. We hope to see you there to celebrate the Christmas season with us.
In English, we have started our new focus on formal letters and the children have been busy identifying features of a letter so they can include these in their own next week.
In maths, we continue to practise our times tables and we will be having the TT Awards test next Thursday.
Homework will be sent home today and is due back on Wednesday.
Please get in touch if you have any queries.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Simms
