Weekly Update 25.11.22

K Simms (k.simms) on: Willow Tree Class Blog

Hello everyone,

Willow Tree have been working hard this week on their Times Tables and it has been fantastic to see the amount of progress children are making towards achieving their Bronze, Silver, Gold and Super Gold awards!

In English, we have been writing our adventure stories up in neat and the children should be very proud of the work they have produced. They have created stories with plot twists and resolutions all while remembering to include expanded noun phrases and fronted adverbials. They are brilliant!

On Wednesday, we had a visit from two members of the Jewish community who came to see us and talk to the children about their faith and their traditions.

In music, we have continued to learn the songs for our Carol Concert and in art we have been drawing self- portraits and adding a moustache just like Salvador Dali!

Homework will be sent home today and is due in on Wednesday. Please keep reading and practising times tables, this can be done on TT Rockstars or on Hit the Button.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Simms

Hello everyone,

Even with the awful weather this week the children have still worked hard to progress their learning and challenge themselves.

We have had fun with sharing in our maths lessons and used our knowledge of equal groups to make sure everybody got an equal number of items. In English, we have written the first draft of our adventure story set in Pompeii and looked at how we can edit and improve our writing to include fantastic sentence openers and expanded noun phrases.

In science, we have completed the final part of our tooth decay investigation and we were shocked to find out that orange juice causes decay quicker than Coca Cola!

We look forward to next week when we will be completing another TT Awards test and writing the final draft of our stories.

Homework has been sent home today and is due in on Wednesday with the homework book. Reading should be done at least 5 times a week and awards are given out on a Wednesday.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Simms

Weekly Update 11.11.22

K Simms (k.simms) on: Willow Tree Class Blog

Hello everyone,

It has been another great week in Willow Tree Class and the children have continued to engage well in their learning.

In maths, we have started our topic of multiplication and looked at the importance of having equal groups for repeated addition. In English, our lessons have focused on story planning so we are ready to write our adventure stories next week. In science, we have looked at the causes of tooth decay and planned an investigation to see how quick tooth decay can occur. In music, we have started to learn the songs for the LKS2 performance of 'The Christmas Story' - please see the newsletter for dates and timings of our Christmas events.

Well done to those children who took part in the Cross Country competition on Wednesday and those who took part in the Football Friendly match on Thursday.

It has been great to see more children are reading regularly at home and it has resulted in noticeable progress during our guided reading sessions!  We will be giving the weekly reading awards out each Wednesday so please make sure you note in your child's reading record by this day. Homework will be sent home today and is due in on Wednesday.

Have a great weekend,

Miss Simms
