Weekly Update 22.12.23

K Atkinson (k.atkinson) on: Pear Tree Class Blog

A very festive week has come to an end!

On Tuesday the children enjoyed the class Christmas party and we even got a visit from Father Christmas!

We have also spent some time this week looking at the atlases and locating the countries that the artists we have learnt about this half term were born in.

On Wednesday the children created their own Christmas tree decoration using beads and pipe cleaners.

After the Christmas holidays, our PE days are going back to Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days.

Thank you for all the presents which are never expected but greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

See you in 2024!

Weekly Update 15.12.23

The most exciting part of the our week has been performing our Christmas nativity! The children all did such an amazing job and I am so proud of each and every one of them for learning so many songs and remembering their dances! Well done, Pear Tree.

On Thursday morning, following our final performance of 'The Innspectors', the children enjoyed watching a Christmas film as a reward for bringing in the most donations for the Christmas fayre out of all the Key Stage One classes.

Enjoy the weekend and I will see you again on Monday for the final week of school before Christmas.

Weekly Update 8.12.23

The children have worked so hard on the Christmas performance this week and we cannot wait to show it to you on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

In science we have continued learning about materials. The children learnt about the properties of different materials and went on a hunt around the classroom with a partner to try and find materials with different properties.

We have spent our phonics lessons recapping the sounds that the children have been taught so far in year one. On Tuesday the children worked in teams to read words and match them to the correct pictures.

In PSHE the children learnt what to do when they are being left out of a game or what to do if they see someone being left out. We discussed how it is important to speak up for ourselves to make sure we have friends to play with at breaktimes.

Enjoy the weekend and I will see you again on Monday.
