Weekly Update 17.12.2021

K Atkinson (k.atkinson) on: Pear Tree Class Blog

We have made it to the end of the term! We haven't done much formal learning this week as we have been doing a lot of Christmas activities, watching Christmas performances and making Christmas crafts.

We had our Christmas party this week and the children all had lots of fun. The children were very supportive of each other when playing games and all congratulated the winner of pass the parcel, which was so lovely to see! Father Christmas even came to deliver everyone a present. You can see our photos from the party below.

Our first day back after the holidays will be Tuesday 4th January.

The only thing left to say is we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope you have an enjoyable (and restful) holiday,

Miss Atkinson, Miss Peacock and Miss Bird

Weekly Update 10.12.2021

We have had a fun and exciting week in Pear Class.

On Wednesday and Thursday the children performed their play 'The Curious Sheep' to an audience of family and friends. All the children have had so much fun learning the songs and dances and it was lovely to see a Christmas performance again after the last 2 years.

As well as spending a lot of time singing and dancing, we have been learning about William Morris as part of our topic of 'The Amazing Artists Time Machine'. This week the children planned their own wallpaper design on a mini whiteboard, before engraving their design into a polystyrene tile and then colouring this in with felt tip pens. Next week we are hoping to print these designs onto paper. The children worked very carefully on their work, paying close attention to detail and concentrating on their colouring in. The classroom was so quiet during this lesson as the children were all so engrossed in their own learning! Please take a look at our designs below.

On Wednesday 15th December it is our class Christmas party, so the children can come into school wearing their own clothes on this day. Please make sure you send in either 50p or £1 before this date, as a contribution towards our party food and prizes for games.

Have an enjoyable weekend,

Miss Atkinson

Weekly Update 3.12.2021

We have started to get into the Christmas spirit this week in Pear Class. The children have been practising our Christmas Play and are looking forward to showing you all their hard work on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

As well as practising our singing, dancing and acting, we have been learning about money in maths. The children have enjoyed playing shops in the classroom and should be able to recognise and tell you the value of different coins and notes.

In English the children planned how they would continue the story of 'The Tunnel' by Anthony Browne and then every child had a go at independently writing the end of the story. I am so impressed with the progress that every single child has made with their writing since the beginning of September and they should be very proud of themselves for this.

Thank you so much for all your donations for the Christmas Fair. Our class contributed the most jars and bottles, out of Key Stage One, so as a reward the children will be having a movie afternoon next week! A big thank you for also supporting your child in completing their weekly class homework, practising their spellings and reading at home - all this support is having a big positive impact on the children's progress.

Have a good weekend and I will see you on Monday!

Miss Atkinson
