This week we have had a week of consolidation in our Maths and English lessons, with both Year 1s and Year 2s recapping on their learning from the Autumn term.
We have had an excellent week completing Christmas activities making cards, baubles, paper snowflakes and lots of colouring. We have also listened to lots of Christmas stories and learned all about the Nativity story in our RE lesson.
On Wednesday afternoon the children had their Christmas Party, where we played lots of games and ate lots of party food! The children had a blast!!!
All the children in Lime Tree class have enjoyed a fantastic Autumn term, making good progress and displaying enthusiasm for all their work. I wish everyone a safe, happy holidays and I am looking forward to seeing you all in January!

We have had an excellent week in Lime Tree Class, writing invitations, post cards and letters to characters in our new book: 'The Jolly Christmas Postman'. We have enjoyed looking at the book and discussing the different types of text within it.
In Maths we have continued with Place Value for our Year 1's, working hard on numbers from 11 - 20. Year 2 have worked on a mixture of arithmetic questions to improve their independence with methods we have taught so far this year!
On Friday we have had a great turn out for the national Christmas Jumper day. All pupils looked great in their jumpers and we enjoyed some Christmas activities in the afternoon too!
Thank you to everyone for their kind contributions for the Christmas party next Wednesday afternoon! We are extremely excited for next week's events!
Have a great weekend everyone!

This week we have just about wrapped up our Florence Nightingale topic. We looked at Florence’s Journey to Scutari hospital in more depth. We role played as Florence which lead to some excellent recounts of her journey in the 1st person.
In Maths we have recapped some basic place value skills in Year 1 and Year 2, and we have started to look at spelling numbers as words.
We had an excellent time drawing guided pictures of Florence using the AdArt guided video on Youtube . There are some examples of our work below which I am sure you will agree, look fantastic! There are lots of different guided videos on the AdArt channel that you might like to do together at home! See the screenshot of their channel below. You can find them by simply typing Ad Art in to the search bar on Youtube to find their channel.

We have had a productive week in Lime Tree Class, writing recounts pretending to be Florence and writing recounts of our own experiences. Our pupils have enjoyed playing the role of Florence Nightingale and some of them have really got into her character and tried to understand what her life was like and how she must have felt.
In Maths our Year 2 pupils have continued with ‘Money’, where they have been working on making different amounts from coins and notes. Year 1 have been consolidating learning on addition and subtraction with number lines and pictorial representations.
We are looking forward to starting some more Christmas / Winter based work next week as we move into December!

We have had an excellent week in Lime Tree Class which started with a visit from a very special person! On Monday afternoon we had a visit from Florence Nightingale, who came in to school to help us understand more about our topic for this half term. All our children took a lot from the afternoon and they thought of some fantastic questions for Florence to further their learning. We took on roles as nurses and porters to clean up our pretend hospital and look after an injured soldier, which you can see our pupils enjoyed in the pictures below!
Our Florence Nightingale experience has helped to direct our English learning this week and we have produced some lovely recounts of the day from our childrens perspective, as well as beginning to write instructions on how to make our very own lamp!
In Maths our Year 1 children have continued to work on Subtraction, using a number line, part whole models and pictures to help them. Our Year 2 pupils have started a new unit this week relating to money. We have looked at the different coins and notes used in the UK and started to combine them to make different amounts.
