Hi and welcome back!
We have had a great start to the new academic year in Ash Tree.
Please also see the information below that was communicated to parents in the Summer term about our upcoming trips to the Worth Valley Railway as part of our WWII topic.
As part of the Autumn term’s work on WW2, we are planning to take the children in Year 5 and Year 6 on an educational visit to the Worth Valley Railway in Keighley. During the day, the children will dress and spend the day as wartime evacuees. They will complete two workshops whilst visiting the two museums on site and learn about rationing and RAF code breaking. They will also get to experience a journey along the Worth Valley Railway on a steam train as part of the evacuee experience.
The date for the trip is Wednesday 25th September 2024. This is for all children in Oak (Y5), Ash (Y5/6) and Maple (Y6).
Children do not need to arrive at school early for this visit, and we will be back for the end of the school day.
We encourage all children to come dressed as evacuees to make the visit as authentic as possible. Please be assured that there is no need for costumes to be expensive or bought especially for the occasion. School uniforms and clothes that the children already have can easily be worn for the day with slight adaptations. There are a few sample ideas/suggestions below.
Boys: Dark trousers or shorts (no jeans), white shirt with a collar. If available, a flat cap would be great and a cardigan/jumper/tank top or jacket with black or brown shoes (school shoes are ideal!).
Girls: Simple pinafore style dress or school skirt and a white blouse. Cardigans/tank tops or jackets can also be worn. Long socks or tights and brown or black shoes (school schools are again ideal!). If available, a beret would be great and hair in plaits or tied back with a ribbon or headband.
We will be making evacuee labels to wear on the trip in school in September, so you do not need to provide one for your child as part of their costume.
(Please scroll down for some pictures of costume ideas!)
Please note the children will require a packed lunch for the day. If your child is in receipt of Free School Meals and you would like a packed lunch providing, please inform the school office in September.
Have a good weekend - rest and recover from all those early starts and see you Monday!

Hello,
Summer is finally here (for now!) and I am writing this from the very warm Ash Tree classroom! We would usually be writing our final blog entry on the last day of the school year... however this year is a little different and we will see you all on Monday and Tuesday!
Below is a link to a gallery of pictures of the Year 6s enjoying their hoodies and disco/pizza party.

On Monday morning, the Year 5s are performing in a Ukulele concert to showcase what they have learnt this year. If you can join us from 9am onwards in the hall I am sure they will put on a great show!
Enjoy your weekend! 2 more days to go...

Hello!
This week we enjoyed welcoming parents and carers into school to watch our Year 6 Leavers' Show. It was the first time we have done a show like this (written AND performed by the children!) as they shared their favourite memories from their time at Rufford Park. Year 6 were also very excited as they received their Leavers' hoodies this week which were kindly paid for by the Friends of Rufford Park again. Here they are in their final RP photoshoot!
Next week, we have the Leavers' Disco to look forward to on Tuesday night. Year 6 can arrive from 5pm for their pizza party and Year 5 from 5.30pm for the start of the disco. After the disco, we will upload a gallery onto the website featuring all the highlights of the Year 6s' last few weeks in school.
In amongst this busy week for Year 6, the Year 5's in Ash have been an absolute delight (as always!). They have been working brilliantly on publishing their Greek myths into a book, finishing off a research project about the legacy of Ancient Greece and also spent part of Tuesday afternoon volunteering across EYFS and KS1! I have no doubt they are ready for Year 6 and will be an asset to the school next year!
Have a good weekend! Enjoy the football...
