This year really is whizzing by!

As always it has been a very busy week in Cherry Tree Class.

We have completed some end of year assessments this week in Reading.  I have been very impressed with the children's overall concentration and their ability to retrieve information and make simple inferences too. Please keep reading at home to allow them to continue to build on the progress they have made this year.

In maths we have continued to work on a range of reasoning problems. We have also recapped on adding and subtracting multiples of 10 and adding and subtracting from multiples of 10.

In our writing lessons the children have been 'having a go' at using purple pen to edit their work.  They have really enjoyed this!  We will continue to develop this skill next half term.

On Wednesday the children enjoyed an afternoon of DT with Mrs Hand.  They have all now completed making their 'Packed Lunch Boxes'.  Next half term (in the first week back) they will test them to see if they can send them across a rope.

All the children have had their letters about our Summer Trip and the Skipping Festival. If you could return the permission slips as soon as possible that would be much appreciated.

Wishing you all a wonderful half term.  Fingers crossed we get some sunshine!

As always a very busy week which has flown by!

The children have written some lovely letters this week.  These have been inspired by the story of 'The Pirates Next Door'.  They have written to the Dull-On-Sea Council giving their reason as to why the pirate family need to go.

In Maths we have been solving reasoning problems involving addition and subtraction.  This week's homework is also maths based.

In DT the children have started to make their Pirate Lunch Boxes.  You can imagine the state of the room during that afternoon.  We will continue our making next week.  These will be tested after the half term holiday.

Enjoy your weekend.

Well this week has certainly gone in a flash!

The highlight of the week has been the VE Day Celebrations on Thursday.  The children enjoyed singing some traditional songs and dressing in their red, white and blue colours.

In maths we have been using the 'inverse' to find missing numbers.  These problems have included all 4 operations.

We have continued to use the story of 'The Pirates Next Door' in our writing.  This week we have been thinking about why the people of Dull-On-Sea wanted the Pirate Family to go.  Next week we will be writing letters to the council telling them why this family need to leave the town.

This week the children have started to design their lunchboxes for the pirates to use. Please remember to send in any other resources your child might want to use.

A reminder to please listen to your children read at home.  Regular reading is so important!  Your help with this is much appreciated.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Mrs Moore
