Weekly Update 14.7.23

Posted: Jul 14, 2023 by: Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

A fabulous penultimate week in Year 6 Maple!

Despite the rainy conditions, the children enjoyed taking part in the annual Sport's Day! Red house were the KS2 winners.

On Wednesday, the children in Year 6 put on amazing performance of 'Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies'. The comedy timing was superb and the audience absolutely loved it. All of this was managed with the hard work of children learning their lines and a minimal rehearsal schedule as we have been busy with so many activities in recent weeks. A special thanks also to Mrs Amos for her help with learning the songs.

On Thursday, the children enjoyed a secondary maths lesson with Mr White from Benton Park. They learned how to calculate either distance,
speed and time in a range of problems and discovered that it was quite easy and it was Year 8 Maths!

Year 6 had an organised visit from West Yorkshire Police to discuss issues that are particularly relevant ahead of the transition to secondary school in September. Road, online and general personal safety were all discussed to enable children to have a good understanding of how they can keep themselves safe as they move towards greater independence.

There was great excitement when the Leavers' Hoodies were given out. We have taken lots of photos that will be published shortly. Next week, we have arranged more fun activities including a Summer Fun afternoon on Wednesday and pizza and disco on Wednesday evening. Year 6 children are also welcome to bring an additional shirt in next Friday for the traditional shirt signing.

Your child will be bringing home their school report today. This will include the results of the SATs assessments.

As you can see we have been very busy.....

Enjoy the weekend
