Hi,
UKS2 enjoyed a unique experience this week when we welcomed the UK's only Maya archaeologist to talk to the children about our current history topic. The children learned how amazing the Maya civilisation was and that the Maya people continue to live in Central America. In addition to learning about Maya pyramids, ballgames, chocolate, art and astronomy the children were given the opportunity to become 'Maya Experts' by looking at different artefacts and deciding what they were, what they were made of and who they would use them. It was great to see how engaged the children were in these discussions and they most definitely learned a lot during the morning.
It was lovely to see so many parents at the meeting about the forthcoming residential in April. Please do not worry if you were unable to attend as all the information provided is on the class web page under useful information and will also be sent home with the children. If you have any questions about the residential you can either email the class email account or contact the office who will pass the message on.
