A special well done to these children!

One Hit Wonders have been the music of the week – Jo Dolce gained the most positive feedback from the children, with Shaddup ya face! (although Miss Sanderson and I did enjoy singing along to Anita Ward’s ‘Ring My Bell’ during Tuesday morning’s Early Bird Maths!)

Our decimals unit continues in maths; we are developing the retelling of the story of Perseus and Medusa in English sessions.

In Art, we spent a little more time researching the Victorian artist, Alfred Wallis – many members of the class have now finished fantastic artist studies in their Art/Sketch book. Next week, we are going to draw shells, so if you have any shells your child can bring in to school, that would be very helpful.

Our highlight was taking a trip across to Benton Park High School on Wednesday, to watch the dress rehearsal of School of Rock. It was a super show to watch, and the children definitely enjoyed it! Some even called it inspirational! But, for many, the best part of the afternoon was visiting an ‘actual high school’ and spending some time inside it. All good preparation for decisions to be made next year.

In RE, Miss Sanderson continues to teach the children all about Rites of Passage’ across different faiths. This week, the children have been exploring how and why Christians include baptism.

And finally for this week, much practising is being done for our ‘Uke Gig’ in ukulele lessons, so please do clear your diary for this little showing assembly, which will happen on Monday, 22 July at around 9.15am. We will be serving coffee/tea etc, so should be a lovely half hour, celebrating all we have learned with Mr Jennings in Y5. Hopefully, this notice will also go out on the newsletter this week.

Have a lovely weekend!

Mrs Adrienne Amos
