Hi everyone,
We have had a great week in Ash Tree and have enjoyed reflecting on last week's trip to support us with our writing. We have started writing diary entries from the perspective of a Victorian child and I think all the children are glad to have been born now instead of back then! Here are a couple of photos of all of Year 5 and 6 in their Victorian costumes.
If you would like to see the full selection of highlights from our trips to Armley Mills please click here.
In Maths, we have been finishing off our unit on place value with some work on negative numbers and Roman numerals and have just moved on to practising formal methods of addition.
Today, Y6 were visited by a member of staff from Benton Park as the time is coming up to make a decision about secondary schools for next year. Children will be coming home with an invitation to attend a virtual open evening event.

Hi,
This week we have been incredibly busy with two school trips to Armley Mills in Ash Tree! Year 6 visited on Thursday and Year 5 visited today!
We really enjoyed our visits and learnt so much about what life would have been like for children in the Victorian era. The children spent half the day working in the mill and the other half attending a Victorian school!
As Year 5 only just arrived back at 3.15pm today, we haven't been unable to upload the photos just yet but please check back next week for all the highlights from our trips!
Have a great weekend.

Hi everyone,
We have had another good week in Ash Tree and had some exciting visitors this week. We had our first music lesson on Monday with Mr Jennings from Artforms and our first P.E lesson with Sam from Fisical on Tuesday. Please remember our P.E days are Tuesday and Thursday and make sure children come to school dressed appropriately.
Next week, both Year 5 and 6 will be visiting Armley Mills to kickstart our Victorians topic. Year 6 are visiting on Thursday and Year 5 are visiting on Friday. They suggest that children arrive in appropriate Victorian costume to really get into character and see what life would have been like for Victorian children. Please also make sure your child brings a packed lunch. If you have not already returned your child's permission slip - please do so ASAP.
We are really excited for our visits and look forward to sharing some of the highlights with you next week!
Miss Bairstow :)
