Hi,
Now we have completed our second week back as a full class it feels like we have never been away! We have had another very busy week. The last group of Year 6's completed Bikeability successfully on Monday. Then, we watched a very exciting presentation by Dr Diane Davies, the only Maya archaeologist in the U.K. Dr Diane normally comes into school to deliver this presentation but it was great that we were still able to learn all about the ancient Maya from her virtually.
Here is a link to her website where she shares lots of other activities/information about the ancient Maya if you want to learn more.
https://www.mayaarchaeologist.co.uk/
Following on from this, in English we have been writing postcards as though we were Maya archaeologists just like Dr Diane.
In maths, Miss Bairstow's group have been revising the basics of fractions and Mrs Trotter and Mr Smith's groups have been learning about perimeter and area.

Hi,
We have successfully completed our first week back in school! It has been lovely to have everyone back and see them all working so hard this week.
Year 6 have been super busy as they have been taking part in Bikeability this week. They all really enjoyed this and behaved brilliantly for the instructors. Please remember if you are in group 4 you will be completing level 2 on Monday so remember to come dressed appropriately and bring your bike/helmet etc. if you are using your own.
In English and maths we have been recapping basic skills. We have been focussing on different word classes in English and working on sentence structure to ensure we are writing at the Year 5/6 standard at all times. In maths, we have been practising skills linked to the four operations and completing some reasoning/problem solving questions to really get our brains working.
Well done for all of your hard work this week Ash Tree! Keep up the super effort.
Miss Bairstow
