Welcome Back

It has been delightful to hear the wonderful and exciting things the children have participated in and experienced during their holiday. This week, Year 4 children have been putting all of their hard work on their times tables to the test as they started to complete their statutory Department for Education Multiplication Check tests. I am so proud of all of the children for their focus on this. Well done children!

Meanwhile, Year 3 children have been learning all things money and time related. We have been focussing on understanding British coin and note values and their equivalent amounts e.g 100p = £1. We followed this with understanding reading analogue and digital clocks to the nearest 5 minutes and 1 minute.

Our sunflowers, you may have seen in our window, that we planted for our plant unit in Science this term are growing beyond our expectations and we are thankful to our children who have been tending and caring for them. All children have been tracking their progress and recording this information into a variety of charts and graphs.

This week in school we started a new PSHE related learning unit linked to the NHS Mindmate programme that focuses on children's mental health. In our lesson, we focussed on how we can often experience mixed or conflicting emotions at the same time, in relation to the same event. For example, we can be happy and sad if we score a goal but our team loses a game. We then discussed how we can use a range of strategies to support us and apply them to other situations we encounter in life.

Finally, this week the children attended an assembly focussed on the great opportunity they have in our school to learn to play a variety of musical instruments. If your child's letter didn't make it home or you would like further information then this link has further details. https://www.mfsf.org.uk/parentinformation

Have a fun weekend
