Weekly Update 14.5.21
Posted: May 14, 2021 by: Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Willow Tree Class Blog 2020-2021
Hello everyone,
We hope your child is looking forward to next week's trip to the brilliant Nell Bank in Ilkley! If you have not returned the permission slip, please do so asap.
This week in maths we've been learning how to read clocks. Many children find this a very difficult concept, so any time you can spend over the weekend checking their understanding would be much appreciated. So far, we have learnt...
- O'clock and half past.
- Quarter past and quarter to.
- Months and years
- marks.co.uk/time/teaching-clock
Try chanting the time with your child as you move the clock hands forwards or backwards in regular intervals (e.g. "7 o'clock... quarter past 7... half past 7... quarter to 8... 8 o'clock") - and then challenge them to say the equivalent digital time.
In English, the children have written their improved persuasive letters and finished editing them today. They will write up their letters in neat and hopefully they will have used all the features that are required in order to persuade Mr Cooke to allow them an extra play on the trim trail.
The children have also been planting some sunflowers, which they really enjoyed and can't wait until they start seeing the flowers growing. We will measure the height of them weekly and input this data into a graph.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mr Kyriacou
