Weekly Update 30.4.21

Hello everyone,
First, I just wanted to say that it was lovely to chat to you all throughout the week about the academic progress of the children, their wellbeing and how they've settled back in since schools have reopened.
It's been another busy week in Willow and the children have been working extremely hard on their persuasive leaflets that revolve around a Mary Anning theme park. They've included some brilliant rhetorical questions, lots of expanded noun phrases and imperative verbs. I am very proud of their efforts. Below are some examples of the fantastic work that has been produced. I've definitely been persuaded to go to all these theme parks.
Before reading the second chapter of Stig of the Dump, the children made predictions about what they think will happen next based on the ending of the first chapter. The children also did some excellent dictionary work to identify the meaning of tricky vocabulary before we read the second chapter.
In Maths, we have continued our work on fractions, with the main focus of this week revolving around comparing and ordering fractions. The build up of their fractions knowledge continues to impress me.
As I may have mentioned during parents' evening, the very best way to support your child's learning is to read with them every evening and to help them practise their times tables.
BRONZE (X2, X5, X10)
SILVER (X3, X4, X6)
GOLD (X7, X8, X9)
SUPER GOLD (X11, X12 and all at speed)
TT Rockstars and Hit the Button are both excellent websites for improving confidence in maths. And you can click here for some recommend reads for Year 3.
Regular use of our school website to practise Word Walls 2, 3 and 4 is also a great way to improve knowledge of core spellings.
I hope you all have a lovely extended weekend.
Take care,
Mr Kyriacou :)
