Weekly Update 19.3.21

Hello everyone,
It’s been another busy week in Willow Tree Class and the children have all been working super hard!
In our assemblies we have been learning how to develop a ‘growth mindset’ when bouncing back from problems or experiencing new challenges. We learnt about the power of the word YET (as in “I don’t know my 6 times tables… yet.”), and also watched the story of Austin’s Butterfly.
In English we’ve been enjoying reading our class novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ – and also ‘Stone Girl Bone Girl’, which was inspired by the life of fossil hunter Mary Anning. Today the children used images to sequence the story in chronological order.
In Maths, we have been focusing on Fractions and the children have been doing brilliantly with it. We have been focusing on finding fractions of amounts and equivalent fractions. I've been really impressed with the development of their mathematical vocabulary.
Last week, the children also made some lovely Mother's Day cards.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend :)
Take care,
Mr Kyriacou :)
