Hello!
A very busy week with lots of Christmas performance practice going on! We will be doing the first performance next Tuesday 9th at 2:00pm and the second one will take place on Wednesday 10th at 9:30am. We are all extremely excited for you to see all the hard work we have put in to making 'Prickly Hay' a fabulous performance.
In Maths we have moved on to numbers to 20. Children have been familiarising themselves with the teen numbers (thinking about what they look like and their value). They have also been attempting some problem solving questions.
Christmas arrived in our classroom on Monday. Our tree is full of the beautiful decorations made by the children and doesn't it look great!
Have a lovely weekend.

This 4 day week has flown by but we have still been up to lots of things in Pear Tree!
In Maths we have continued with subtraction within 10 using a number line, numicon and bar models to find the difference.
In English we have been sequencing and orally retelling the story of ‘Where The Wild Things Are’. Next week we will be starting a new fantasy book.
As mentioned last week we have been practicing our songs for our Christmas play 'Prickly Hay'. All of the children have been told the dance or part they will be playing. You can find the audios here if you want to practice at home.

Have a lovely (long) weekend.

Hello!
We have had a very busy week with Remembrance Day on Tuesday, Odd Socks Day for anti-bullying on Thursday and raising money for Children in Need on Friday!
In English we have been describing the setting of the island where the Wild Things live. We have used our senses to imagine the things that we might see, hear, feel and smell.
In Maths the children have been introduced to the subtraction symbol (-) and have been looking at how a part-whole model can help them solve subtraction number sentences.
In Art we focused on the work of Mark Rothko. The children explored blending red, yellow and blue paint (the primary colours) together to recreate some of his work. In PE we have been playing OAA games which is all about team work and listening skills.
The preparations for our Christmas Play have begun this week. We have started listening and practising the songs so you may hear a few new songs being sung in your homes. Our performance this year will be 'Prickly Hay'. We are all very excited :)
Polite reminder: Children are now receiving either English or Maths homework every Friday. Please make sure homework is completed and returned to school by the following Thursday so that is can be marked and a new sheet can be stuck in. Thank you to those who completed last weeks!
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Cotterill

Hello!
It was great to welcome so many smiling faces back on Monday. We have had a good week in Pear Tree.
In English this half term we are looking at Fantasy Stories. Our focus text for the next few weeks is 'Where the Wild Things Are'. This week we have been making predictions and writing a description about one of the Wild Things. The children have been using adjectives in their descriptive sentences.
In Maths we have been recapping on the various practical resources (number line, ten frame & part-whole model) that can be used when solving addition number sentences.
In Science we started our new topic all about materials. The children explored and sorted materials according to their properties.

Homework books will now be going home with the children every Friday. The English or Maths work must be completed and returned by the following Thursday. Thank you for your support with this :)
Have a lovely weekend.
