A short but busy week in Year 6 Maple Tree Class.
In English, we completed our character descriptions. Everyone worked really hard to include a fantastic range of vocabulary, whilst developing their understanding of adjectives and adverbs.
We were planning to move onto setting descriptions but an important local matter has resulted in us changing our focus over the next week. We discovered that Leeds Sailing Club in Yeadon is under threat of possible closure. This is a valuable community resource and Year 6 always spends part of the summer term enjoying the range of activities that are on offer there.
As a result, Year 6 will be putting their excellent writing skills to use and writing persuasive letters to Leeds City Council to oppose this closure. Watch this space for the results next week!
In maths, we continue to focus on fractions and will moving onto adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. It has also been great to see everyone focussed on becoming increasingly accurate in their methods of arithmetic.
Enjoy the long weekend.
