Hello,
We have reached the half term holidays. Ash Tree Class Class have made a super start to the academic year.
With Mrs Ward on Thursday, the children looked at different ways of communicating online and talking about which methods of communication were the most appropriate in different situations (and also whether or not they were safe/private/age appropriate). The children had some great discussions as they moved around the classroom. In Science, the children did an experiment to find out the effects of surface area on water resistance.
Enjoy the half term break.

Hello,
The children have been busy diary writing and completing the place value maths unit of learning this week.
Congratulations to Arlo (Y5) on becoming the School Council representative for Ash Tree Class. A big well done also goes to Elliot (Y6) for winning the largest number of votes to become Chairperson of the School Council. I know that both pupils will represent the class and school well as we move forward through the year.
The class began to look at structures as part of their Design and Technology lesson this week. Please could you continue to send in any kitchen roll/wrapping paper cardboard tubes to help with this project.
I am looking forward to meeting parents/carers at next week's parents evening consultations. The children have made a great start to the year.

Hello,
After a fantastic trip to Armley Mills, we have been focusing on planning and writing diary entries of a Victorian school child. Trips such as these are invaluable and result in an enhanced knowledge of this area of the curriculum. The diary entries are already demonstrating a high standard of writing as a result of the immersive experience.
Just a quick reminder for all pupils. The snack to be brought in for their morning break must be a healthy snack. Over the last couple of weeks there has been an increase in children bringing sweets, crisps, chocolate bars and biscuits in to eat at morning break. Pupils will be asked to put these back in their bag and take home. Thank you for your support with this.
Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone,
A fantastic topic focused week. We were looking forward to the local history trip to Armley Mills and our visit certainly did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed being transported to the Victorian era in the roles of a Victorian school child and mill worker. The children learned what it was like to learn in a Victorian classroom and the extremely difficult life of a child working in the mills. We will be using this experience to inspire our writing next week.
Photos to also follow next week....
Have a lovely weekend
