Weekly Update 19.12.25

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Ash Tree Class Blog

Hi,

What a lovely final week to the term!

UKS2 gave a great performance of 'A Very Victorian Christmas'. The children learned their lines to both the songs and the poem very well and with only two rehearsals with the whole of UKS2!

The DT project of 'Marbellous Structures' was also a particular success this week. It has been lovely to see the children so engaged in a group project. Their teamwork skills have been excellent.

Keeping with the Victorian theme, the children also made traditional Victorian Christmas cards.

We have also held the auditions for Wizard of Oz and most of the speaking parts have been handed out now – but there will be some additional parts given out next term, I am sure. It’s always difficult to give out parts for a show, as some children will obviously be disappointed that they haven’t been given a main role/the role they wanted – but I do hope you can encourage your child (if they feel downhearted) and say that the whole experience will be a lot of fun! Every part is important in this show...Work will begin on this in January.

Thankyou for the kind gifts we have received. We wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Mrs Trotter, Mrs Senior & Mrs Ward

Weekly Update 12.12.25

Hi,

The children have enjoyed Christmas dinner and jumper day and even the sunshine managed to make an appearance!

UKS2 have complete reading, writing and maths assessments this week. It has been lovely to see the progress the children have made since September.

The children are looking forward to sharing their 'A Very Victorian Christmas' assembly to parents/carers next Wednesday. Just a reminder that children need to wear the Victorian clothes they wore on the Armley Mills trip on Wednesday morning. They can bring a change of clothes with them.

Have a lovely weekend!

Weekly Update 5.12.25

Hi,

Lots of things going on in school!

UKS2 have been busy practising their singing ahead of the 'A Very Victorian Christmas' assembly. Words for the songs have been sent home to learn. To add to the authenticity of our assembly please can children wear the Victorian clothes they wore for the Armley Mills Trip. On Wednesday 17th December the children can come to school in these clothes and bring their school uniform to change into afterwards.

Lots of fraction work is taking place in UKS2. This will be continuing until the end of the term. The children have also been busy with their biographical writing and have learned lots about the life of Thomas Barnardo.

Another hectic week ahead......

Mrs Trotter
