Hi,
A super start to the half-term!
The children began their next writing focus by exploring the features of non-chronological reports. This piece of writing will be linked to our World War Two topic and will involve researching the role of women in World War Two.
We had a great afternoon on Wednesday when all of UKS2 enjoyed tasting a variety of foods that would have been available during World War Two. This is part of our Design and Technology curriculum and the children will be using these foods to inspire them to create a recipe that could have been cooked whilst ingredients were rationed. We are hoping to post some photographs of this afternoon on Facebook once we have checked all permissions - keep checking for this next week!
A number of children also completed the optional homework of creating a shelter in a shoebox! Well done to those children; they were incredibly creative and we hope to display these in our Living Museum that will take place on Wednesday 20th November. This will be another opportunity for all of UKS2 to work together.
Continuing with the WW2 topic, on Monday, we will be walking to the Town Hall to begin our enquiry question of ‘Why we remember’. Hopefully, the children have had the opportunity to buy a poppy to wear on this day to help reflect this act of remembrance.
Have a lovely weekend
Miss Bairstow :)
