We have had another busy week in Ash Tree Class!
In English, we have been completing our final drafts of our character descriptions based on "The Piano". It has been great to see the children using new vocabulary and writing some super complex sentences. There has also been a vast improvement in handwriting so I am looking forward to handing out some more pen licences on Monday!
In Maths, Mrs Trotter and Mr Smith's groups have continued to work on fractions whilst my group have been working hard to use the formal method for long multiplication accurately! The children realised this method was much easier if they were confident with their recall of times tables so please continue to practise times tables at home if you need to. Some children progressed to playing a very competitive, long multiplication game of "three in a row" too!
We finished the week with a food tasting DT lesson this afternoon. We have been learning about seasonal produce and linked this to rationing within our WW2 topic. Today, we decided which high sugar vegetables we will be using as a sugar substitute in our rationed baking recipes later in the term! Some children discovered a new favourite vegetable they had never tried before whilst others weren't so keen!
