Weekly Update 18.6.21

Welcome back to the blog!
We have had a busy week this week...
Year 4 took part in the Multiplication Tables Check (a SATs-style government assessment of times tables recall), and I was very impressed with how much they've improved since September.
In English we developed our comprehension skills using our excellent class reader, Stig of the Dump, and have been working on our grammar skills. Can your child remember the difference between a noun, verb, adjective, adverb and preposition?
In maths we have moved on to angle work (not angel work as many children thought!) and have been identifying, comparing and ordering acute, right and obtuse angles. Here is our practical lesson on finding right angles within our environment...
In science we set up our plant investigation with the question "Can a sunflower grow in the dark?" and our prediction is "no" because plants need light to grow.
On Friday afternoon we enjoyed producing our own cave paintings. Pictures to follow on next week's post!
If your child did not receive a copy of the weekly homework, you can download a summary here.
Have a lovely weekend!
