Weekly Update - 9/9/22

Hello everyone,
The children have settled in well and shown just how hardworking and eager they are :)
In maths, we have been focusing on identifying the value of each digit in 4-digit numbers and showing this in a variety of ways and they have made a fantastic start.
We have also started reading our class novel, which is The Thieves of Ostia and this links in with our topic for this term, which revolves around the Romans. The children have also been doing some super dictionary work to identify the meaning of tricky vocabulary and they have also done some great comprehension work to answer a variety of questions from the first chapter.
The children have also had their first computing session this week. This was all about programming a set of instructions to make their character move in different directions. The children absolutely loved this, particularly at the end when they got to make their character move by pressing specific keys that were programmed to make the character move in certain ways.
P.E will take place on Wednesday and Friday, and we will be starting swimming from next Friday, which is Friday 12th September. Please make sure that the children are wearing their swimming costumes underneath their P.E clothes.
