Weekly Update 11/3/22

Posted: Mar 11, 2022 by: Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Beech Tree Blog

Hello everyone,

This week, we finished the final chapter of Grandpa Chatterji, which was called The Poppy Field. We've really enjoyed reading it as class and doing lots of fantastic reading, writing  and  topic related work around it. One of the reading activities we have done revolved around the children writing their own blurb for the story and then designing their own cover for it. They really enjoyed this lesson, they wrote persuasive blurbs which would really get the reader interested, but did not give too much away about the story. They also produced some beautiful alternative designs. As a class, they have enjoyed the book so much, that we have agreed to read the the two sequel books as part of our story time reading.

In science, we have continued our topic on living things and their habitats. This week we were identifying and classifying different living things and we were generating questions using a classification key. The children all really enjoyed making their own classification keys. Here are some examples below.

Take care,

Mr Kyriacou :)
