Weekly Update 16.6.23

Posted: Jun 16, 2023 by: K Simms (k.simms) on: Willow Tree Class Blog

Hello everyone,

Another warm week in Willow Tree Class but that hasn't stopped us from doing the very best we can do!

In maths, we have moved onto our new topic of Properties of Shape and have identified right angles on 2D and 3D shapes as well as investigated which shapes have a mixture of angle types: acute angles, obtuse angles and right angles.

In English, we have started working towards our new focus of story writing and identified features of a story within a WAGOLL.

In science, we have been planning our own investigation to identify what plants need to help them grow. We will be conducting these investigations over the coming weeks.

On Wednesday, we had a visit from a Cyberspace Security company who talked to us about the importance of staying safe online and gave us some tips on how to do this. More information can be found following this link https://saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/safer-internet-day-2023/parents-and-carers/practical-tips-for-starting-a-conversation-about-life-online

We had a lovely afternoon on Tuesday working with Year 5! It was an extremely hot afternoon so we joined with Year 5 Oak to a mixture of PE and reading. The children completed their activities for our PE focus of rounders before sitting down with a Year 5 buddy to read to them and then listen to their Year 5 partner read them a story. It was a brilliant afternoon which the children all enjoyed!

Homework will be sent home today and is due in on Wednesday. Please also have a look at home for any school jumpers or cardigans that do not belong to your child and bring them in so we can return them to their owner.

Have a lovely weekend!

Miss Simms
