Weekly Update 19.5.23

Posted: May 18, 2023 by: K Simms (k.simms) on: Willow Tree Class Blog

Hello everyone,

As we reach the end of the penultimate week of this half term, I would like to say a huge well done to the children for their hard work this week! We have looked at lots of tricky concepts in our lessons.

In maths, we have been looking at finding the correct change from different amounts. There were some difficult problems for the children to solve but they used their knowledge of column subtraction to help work out the answer.

In science, we looked at how sound travels through the air and investigated this using string telephones.

In topic, we answered some important questions about Stonehenge, including: How was it made? Who made it? How long did it take? Why is it so important? We also finished our cave drawings!

In English, we have been preparing to write setting description of the cave from our guided reading text "Stone Age Boy" and used all of our 5 senses to describe the deep, damp cave with the echoes of footsteps bouncing off the walls.

Homework will be sent home tonight and is due in on Wednesday. Reading books will be changed on Thursday.

Also, on Wednesday, school photos will be taking place so please make sure your child is in the correct school uniform.

Have a lovely weekend and let's hope the sun comes out a little more next week!

Miss Simms
