Weekly Update 28.4.23
Posted: Apr 28, 2023 by: K Simms (k.simms) on: Willow Tree Class Blog
Hello everyone!
Yet again, we have had a brilliant week in Willow Tree Class! We started off the week by completing our Scooter Road Safety Training and we hope that this will encourage more and more children to get out in the fresh air and walk/scooter to school. The children were fantastic listeners and worked hard during their sessions with Leeds City Council Road Safety team.
On Monday and Wednesday, we started our new Design and Technology unit "Edible Gardens" and talked about how we find different herbs in our garden and what we can use these for. We had a look at some real basil, mint, rosemary and parsley and discussed what dishes we might use each of them in. Afterwards, we each chose a herb that we would like to plant and these are now on our classroom windowsill so we can observe them everyday to see if they start sprouting!
Earlier this week, a letter was sent home about food tasting. If your child is unable to eat any particular foods, please return this form to us as soon as possible so that we can cater for them during our future DT lessons.
In English, we have been editing and improving our instructions for "How to make a fire using flint". This links nicely to our Stone Age topic.
Homework will be sent home tonight and is due in on Wednesday.
Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend,
Miss Simms
