Weekly Update 26.11.21

Posted: Nov 26, 2021 by: K Simms (k.simms) on: Willow Tree Class Blog

Hello everyone,

This week we have been learning about Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and laws… including their use of ‘trial by ordeal’!

In maths, we’ve been developing our knowledge of division and looking at the differences between sharing and grouping.

Of course, we’ve also been incredibly busy rehearsing for our upcoming Christmas play, Snow Queen. All parts have now been cast – and lines / song lyrics have been sent home for your child to learn.

Here are some tips you may wish to share with your child:

  1. Don’t just read it... say it out loud!
  2. Ask someone else to hold the script and say the other parts – so you’ll know when it’s your turn to speak.
  3. If you are friends with other children in the cast, could you meet up to practise?
  4. Add a physical action when rehearsing... e.g. clenching your fist, kneeling, clapping, punching the sky. It doesn’t have to be the action you’ll use on stage!
  5. Write out or photocopy lines you are finding tricky... then do something creative with it (colour it, cut it out, carry it around in your pocket, stick it up in your house, etc)
  6. The golden rule is LITTLE AND OFTEN… 5-10 minutes per day is ideal!

Don’t forget to return your TICKET REQUEST FORM by Monday. If your child has mislaid it, you can download another copy here.
Homework for this week can also be downloaded here.
Have a lovely weekend!
