Weekly Update 12.11.21

Hello everyone,
What a busy week we have had here in Willow Tree Class! Highlights include…
- Taking part in ENGLAND ROCKS – an online competition run by TT Rockstars. We had a fantastic battle with Beech and Cedar tree class… many of the children answered thousands of correct answers during the course of the week. A huge well done to Amber and Jakub for achieving the two highest scores in our class!
- We had our first singing assembly with Mr Jennings and enjoyed learning songs for our upcoming Christmas play, Snow Queen. We also carried out after-school auditions for speaking parts… well done to everyone who learnt the lines and had a go!
- We have been testing our jumping and coordination skills in PE with our new focus for this half term which is skipping and the children have been fantastic at using songs and rhymes to encourage them to keep going.
- We learnt how to use speech marks and used superstar vocabulary instead of the word "said" for our newspaper reports on the Viking raid at Lindisfarne.
- In maths we developed our subtraction skills and the children have shown great determination this week with some tricky column subtraction.
- In science we learnt how different animals (including humans) have different nutritional requirements.
Homework has been sent home today and is due in on Wednesday. Please encourage your child to read every day, we are really starting to notice a significant improvement in their understanding of texts which is fantastic!
