Weekly Update 26.4.24

Another week has gone by so quickly!
A highlight of the week was the African drumming workshop that took place on Wednesday. The children participated in call and response activities and also joined in with different African chants.
The children also learnt about sculptor Michelle Reader as part of art this week. Take a look at some of our monster sculptures below!
In phonics we have continued to recap previously taught sounds but with a focus on using the correct digraphs when writing.
In maths we have introduced the topic of money and the children have been busy learning to recognise different coins and notes by playing shops.
Next week in art we are going to be learning about sculptor Barbara Hepworth and the children are going to be working in groups to create a large sculpture with cardboard boxes. If you have any cardboard boxes at home it would be appreciated if you could donate them into class before Tuesday 1st May.
