Weekly Update 9.6.23

We have had a fantastic first week back.
Our topic this half term is 'The Seaside' and we completed our first topic lesson looking at what the seaside is and sorting photos according to whether they showed the seaside or Yeadon.
On Tuesday the children enjoyed an assembly by 'The Music Man' informing them of the different musical instruments that they can sign up to learn in school time during the next academic year. We read 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' by Sarah Roberts, which is our core English text for this half term. A read aloud version of this book can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF1-ZTRydlM.
On Wednesday we also completed a PSHE lesson about perseverance and growth mindset. The children worked in teams to complete the (intentionally difficult) task of building the tallest tower, using only 6 pieces of paper. I was impressed with the children's creativity and how they tried different approaches when things didn't go as plan the first time.
