This half-term has gone by so quickly! All the children seem settled at school and have already made good progress since the start of the year. As mentioned at Parent's Evening, homework will start being set after October half-term.
Over the past few weeks we have begun our history topic of 'Fighting Fit' and have started learning about Florence Nightingale. We will continue this topic after the holidays. So far the children have been very enthusiastic about this topic and should be able to tell you some facts about Florence Nightingale.
On Wednesday all the children performed the poem 'Caterpillar' by Christina Rosetti off by heart to Lime Tree Class and Cherry Tree Class. I was very impressed with how the children remembered all the words to the poem and spoke clearly for the other children to hear. After the holidays we will be learning the poem 'Now We Are Six' by A. A. Milne
In phonics the children have learnt about their first split digraph 'a_e'. The children worked together to read and sort words into those spelt with the 'ay', 'ai' and 'a_e' digraphs.
All the children have also designed their own Christmas Card which will be available for purchase. The money from these cards will go to the school. Details about how to preview and order these cards will be coming next half term.
I hope you and your family have an enjoyable week and I will see you again on Monday 31st October.
