Weekly Update 9.9.2022

We have had a fun-packed first week in Pear Class.
The children have settled well into Year One and I have been very impressed with how quickly they have started to learn our new classroom routines. We have done a lot of writing all about ourselves and have also been recapping our counting up to 10. Each child has also decorated their own fish for our first classroom display, to show how we are all individuals but we all work together in our class.
Our topic this term is 'A Bug's Life' which we will be introducing next week. The children will be learning about minibeasts and their habitats in science, as well as learning about the art of Andy Goldsworthy. Our core text for the first few weeks is 'Owl Babies' before we move on to 'What the Ladybird Heard'. Our curriculum overview can be seen on the Pear Class webpage if you would like more detail about each subject.
Thank you all for making the time to come into class on Wednesday morning for 'Meet the Teacher'. It was lovely to see you all. Some general information points:
The new adventure playground has been build in the KS1 playground. We are looking forward to the children getting a chance to play on this equipment at break times, but please do not allow your children to play on this equipment either before or after school.
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please make sure your child wears a PE kit on these days. Earrings should not be worn on these days and long hair should be tied up.
If you ever have a question feel free to email the Pear email address at: pear@ruffordparkprimary.org.uk
Enjoy the weekend (I am sure you will have some very tired children after this week!) and I look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
