Hello!
It was lovely to welcome everyone back on Monday with smiling faces. The children have all been fantastic 'Rufford Park Learners' this week, by being eager and ready to start all of our new learning.
Our topic this half term is 'Message in a Bottle'. We have been looking at famous explorers such as Christopher Columbus, we looked at the positive and negative impact he had.
Continuing with this theme in English we looked at a new focus text 'The Pirates Next Door'. The children have written recounts using time words about when Matilda met her new next door neighbours the Jolly Rogers.
In Science our focus for the summer term is 'All About Animals'. For our first lesson we looked at how scientist can sort animals in to 5 groups based on their features (Mammals, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds and Fish).
For our PE lessons on Fridays we have a special Dance coach coming in to take our sessions. The children really enjoyed the first visit today from Northern Arts.
A big thank you to those of you who did lots of reading over the holidays! It is so important, reading enables us to discover new facts and to learn but also opens us up to a world of new ideas, stories and opportunities :)
